The proposed HACOLA Nueva Maravilla Stormwater BMP Pilot Project reduces and prevents stormwater contamination of the Los Angeles River; it conforms to the requirements of Municipal Stormwater permits; it implements Low Impact Development (LID) strategies and practices that seek to maintain predevelopment hydrology at the project site.
The proposed project consists of a complex set of interconnected tasks driven by a community based outreach and education process and anchored by a science based monitoring and evaluation process with the technical aspects of engineering, design, and construction filling in the middle. The LID BMPs being proposed for this Pilot Project aim to keep maximum rainfall, irrigation and dry weather runoff on sitethrough the use of solutions that mimic natural hydrologic processes.
